We are seeking a dynamic, results-driven Director of Private Label to lead and scale our growing private label division.


Job Overview

The Director of Private Label will be responsible for overseeing and expanding The Crump Group’s private label business across North America. This role requires strong leadership, customer management, and category development skills, with a focus on delivering profitable growth through partnerships with leading retailers. The successful candidate will play a key role in building and executing strategic plans, managing customer relationships, ensuring flawless execution of programs, and leading a cross-functional team to meet private label objectives.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute the private label sales strategy to achieve annual growth, margin, and distribution targets.

  • Build strong customer relationships with senior-level retail partners, positioning The Crump Group as a preferred private label supplier.

  • Lead negotiations on pricing, promotional plans, and long-term agreements with key accounts.

  • Oversee the development and execution of customer-specific business plans, ensuring alignment with company objectives.

  • Partner with R&D, Operations, and Marketing to drive product innovation and ensure speed-to-shelf for new launches.

  • Manage private label P&L and trade budgets to deliver sustainable and profitable growth.

  • Provide thought leadership by analyzing category trends, market data, and consumer insights to identify opportunities.

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Demand Planning, Supply Chain, and Finance to optimize forecasting, service levels, and deductions management.

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing sales team, fostering talent development and succession planning.

  • Represent the company at industry tradeshows, buyer meetings, and key customer events to drive new opportunities.

  • Continuously monitor competitive activity and proactively recommend strategies to strengthen The Crump Group’s private label position.


Recipe for Success

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field (MBA preferred).

  • 5-7+ years of progressive sales leadership experience in private label or CPG.

  • Proven ability to manage large retail accounts and develop strategic partnerships.

  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, with experience managing P&L and trade budgets.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive accountability.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including operations, R&D, and supply chain.

  • Results-oriented with a proven track record of delivering growth.

  • Experience in the pet category or adjacent CPG industries considered a strong asset.
