The Real Estate Developer will play a key role in optimizing our real estate network for the Ren’s Pets banner by identifying, evaluating, and executing new development or relocation opportunities. This position requires strategic thinking, strong project management skills, financial acumen, and negotiation abilities to drive projects from concept to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

Network Optimization

• Analyze the current real estate portfolio and identify opportunities for optimization and expansion by developing long-term plans for store growth and capital expenditures.

• Research and assess potential acquisitions or development sites through thorough feasibility studies to verify viability and profitability.

• Negotiate the sale or acquisition of land, buildings, or long-term leases under favorable terms aligned with company standards.

Lease Negotiation

• Negotiate leases and lease amendments with landlords and tenants, ensuring compliance with company standards.

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with landlords, brokers, and other real estate professionals.

• Collaborate with legal teams to review and finalize contracts and agreements.

Market Analysis and Reporting

• Conduct market research to analyze customer behavior, determine the best use of properties, and align projects with market trends.

• Maintain accurate records of all transactions, agreements, and project-related documents.

Key requirements include:

• Bachelor’s degree in management, business, urban Planning, or a related field.

• 3 to 5 years of experience in real estate development or a similar role.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a solid understanding of zoning laws, permits, and construction processes.

• Skilled negotiator, especially in securing favorable lease terms.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a good grasp of legal terms and conditions related to real estate contracts.

• LOCATION: This position is based in Ren’s Pets home office located in Puslinch, Ontario, with a requirement to work in the office 1-3 days per week and flexibility to work from home. Occasional travel to store locations, Distribution Centres or other offices may be required.
